The Honda Civic, Mazda 3, Mitsubishi Lancer and Toyota Corolla Altis are four of the most popular compact sedans in the Philippines.

Honda Civic

The Honda Civic is a line of small cars manufactured by Honda. Originally a subcompact, the Civic has gone through several generational changes, becoming both larger and more upmarket and moving into the compact car segment. The first Civic was introduced in July 1972 as a two-door model, followed by a three-door hatchback that September. With an 1169 cc transverse engine and front-wheel drive like the British Mini, the car provided good interior space despite overall small dimensions. Initially gaining a reputation for being fuel-efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly, later iterations have become known for performance and sportiness, especially the Civic Type R, Civic VTi, Civic GTi and Civic SiR/Si.

Mazda 3

The Mazda 3 sports is a subcompact cars manufactured by Mazada to replace the Protg. Introduced in 2004 as an entry level hatchback or sedan that comes loaded with interesting features and sporty design. It powered by 2.3 liter Inline four-cylinder engine at 160 horsepower. Symbolic changes was made to its model, with new wheel covers and a satellite radio marking the only substantial updates. Also, a new feature comes next, and it was called variable valve timing was added to its engine, ABS, and the intermittent windshield wipers were offered as standard equipment. Again it followed by the Mazda 3 major changes, new taillight, center armrest in the rear was introduced and an optional stability control system was offered in various upper trim levels. Until this days, a brand new redesign was issued with new equipment, new trim levels, lots of upgrades and a better engine and a wide range of enhancements intended to elevate the ownership experience of Mazda 3 customers. The Mitsubishi Lancer is a family car built by Mitsubishi Motors. It has been known as the Colt Lancer, Dodge/Plymouth Colt, Chrysler Valiant Lancer, Chrysler Lancer, Eagle Summit,Hindustan Lancer, Soueast Lioncel, Mitsubishi Carisma, and Mitsubishi Mirage in various countries at different times, and has been sold as the Galant Fortis in Japan since 2007. It has also been sold as Lancer Fortis in Taiwan with a different face-lift compared to Galant Fortis. In Japan, it was sold at a specific retail chain called Car Plaza.

Toyota Corolla Altis

The Toyota Corolla is a line of subcompact and compact cars manufactured by Toyota. Introduced in 1966, the Corolla managed to become the best-selling car worldwide by 1974 and has been one of the best-selling cars in the world since then. In 1997, the Corolla became the best selling nameplate in the world, surpassing the Volkswagen Beetle. Almost 40 million Corollas have been sold over eleven generations by mid June 2013.The series has undergone several major redesigns. The name "corolla" is part of Toyota's naming tradition of using names derived from the Toyota Crown for sedans. The Corolla has always been exclusive in Japan to Toyota Corolla Store locations, and manufactured in Japan with a twin, called the Toyota Sprinter until 2000.
