Checking and Adding Engine Oil Level

Make it a habit "checking engine oil level in a regular basis", but before you start make sure that your vehicle is on the level ground. You can check the oil before the vehicle is driven or atleast 5 minutes after the engine has been turn off. Because, if the engine oil is checked immediately after driving the vehicle, some of the oil will remain in the upper engine components, resulting in an inaccurate reading on the dipstick.

What is the correct engine oil

Modern engines place great demands on their oil. It is very important that the correct oil for your vehicle is used, always consult your vehicles manual see lubricants and fluid pages.

Car Engine Care

Always maintain the vehicle engine oil level between the upper and lower dipstick marks. If the oil level is to low, severe engine damage may occur. On the other hand if oil is overfilled by adding to much, may result seal failure.

If you found yourself frequently adding engine oil, then don't ask yourself why, go check whether you have any oil leaks. To check for oil leak, all you going to do is to place some clean white paper under the vehicle engine bay overnight. In the next morning, look for stains. If you found nothing, then the engine itself may be burning oil.

How to check engine oil

Withdraw the dipstick, and with the use of clean rag or paper towel, remove all the oil from your vehicle dipstick. Insert the cleaned dipstick into the tube as far as it will go, then take it off again by withdrawing from the tube.
