Mobil Super™ 1000 Diesel 15W-40 Review

The Mobil Super 1000 Diesel 15W-40 is designed to provide a high level of protection and performance. It is industry tested so you can trust to get the performance you want from your vehicle. It provides wear protections, engine cleanliness, and high temperature protection.

What is 15W-40? 
The 15W-40 is a  fluid's resistance to flow, also know as Viscosity. Rated at 0° F (represented by the number preceding the "W" [for Winter]) and at 212° F (represented by the second number in the viscosity designation). So 10W-30 oil has less viscosity when cold and hot than does 15W-40. Motor oil thins as it heats and thickens as it cools. Within reason, thicker oil generally seals better and maintains a better film of lubrication between moving parts. But needed more energy to drive your engine. So, if a motor oil passes the cold temperature or W (winter grade) specification for a SAE 15W and at 210° F (100° C) flows through the viscometer like a SAE 40 motor oil, then the label will read 15W-40.
