Must do in baby's first hour after birth.
Bonding tips with your newborn on it's first hour after birth is the most important part of her life. So the following suggestion can help get you off to the start with your baby.

A positive birthing experience encourages maternal boding; a negative birthing experience often negatively affects a mother's first meeting with her infant. Two factors that greatly increase the likelihood of having a positive birth are taking a quality childbirth class and having the presence of a professional labor assistant also helps.

Pain reliever given to the mother during labor can decrease the mother's and the baby's receptiveness to one another after birth Mothers who have been well prepared for birth require few, if any, medical drugs during labor. If you  do have a negative birthing experience in which fear and suffering pre-dominate or medical complications occur, realize that your feelings of attachment to your baby can be temporarily affected. Taking pleasure to your baby can help make up for a bumpy beginning.

Touch your baby.
Ideally, immediately after birth your baby should be skin - to - skin on your abdomen, with your arms around her and blanket over your arms. Study shows that infants whose mother were not medicated and who were not separated at all from mother were able to make a crawling movement along mother's abdomen and reach her breast by themselves to the breast. Touch is a powerful motivator! Your newborn benefits greatly from the stimulation she receives from skin - to - skin contact. Gently stroke your baby, touching her whole body. Mothers and fathers naturally touch their babies differently. It is moving to see a new mother stroke her baby's entire body with a gentle caress of her fingertips and to see the new father place his entire hand on his baby, as if symbolizing his commitment to protect the life he has fathered.

Look at your baby.
Your newborn can see you best within the distance of 1 foot. Newborn are on the state of quiet alertness after birth, they will open their eyes much more during the first hour after birth than they will an hour or two later when they are sleeping soundly. The feedback you will receive from starting into your newborns's eyes may trigger a rush of beautiful mothering feelings. Ask the nurses to delay putting eye ointment in baby's eyes( an ointment to prevent eye infections) until after the bonding period, since this ointment may lessen your baby's ability to open her eyes.

Talk to your baby.
Mothers naturally speak to their newborn babies in a high pitched, rhythmic voice. Your newborn's ears are already attuned to your speech, and you may notice that your baby moves rhythmically in response to your voice. Babies usually also recognize dad's voice and look to see where it's coming from.

Breastfeed your baby right after birth.
Some babies have a strong desire to suck immediately after birth, and others are content simply to lick the nipple. How eager they are depends on several things: use of pain medication, temperament, and the need for calming that sucking provides. Medical research clearly demonstrates that babies should be close to the breast immediately after birth so they can explore. Sucking and licking into your nipple release the hormone oxytocin into your bloodstream. The oxytocin increases the contraction of the uterus and lessens postpartum bleeding. This early sucking also stimulates the release of the hormone prolactin, the milk producing hormone, which also enhances your mothering abilities after birth.

Have some private time.
If no medical problems occur, a perceptive hospital staff will leave mother, father, and baby alone for a while after birth. This should be a time of peace and privacy as you celebrate the birth of your child. It is time when all three of you can embrace each other. After the baby's initial hour of alertness, she probably will reward you with several hours of deep sleep.
