Great commuter car: Toyota Wigo Review

Toyota Wigo
Toyota Wigo

Toyota Wigo is  a great commuter car that is smaller to an average car, but can fit 5 person. Perfect for city driving but not that ecomical with 8-10km per liter. However, it manages 12-13km per liter if you follow the Eco light religiously. On highway long drive at average speed of 80km per hour you can consume 18km/Liter.  And like most three-cylinder engine, the Wigo doesn’t have the smoothest idling—it sounds rickety, uneven, and just plain unbalanced. On steep inclines (going to tagaytay) or when fully-loaded, the Wigo will struggle.

Toyota Wigo comes with 4-speed automatic transmission and 5-speed manual transmission variant to choose from, plus its very basic features. An automatic doorlock, power window, automatic mirror adjustment, and touch screen audio console mated with 2 speakers system, CD Player, Stereo, MP3, Aux, USB, Bluetooth, and Apple iPod capability. The instrument cluster  also has a multi-information display that shows range and mileage.

Its Dual SRS airbags and anti-lock brakes are standard equipment as well. (WIGO G variant has abs feature except for E variant)

Wigo has similarities to the Avanza and as expected Wigo interior materials are hard and more on plastics. It also uses shades of gray. The odd on its interior design, its front seat don't offer adjustable headrest while rear seat do. However, in term of luggage space, Wigo has enough for a out of town trip.

The Wigo’s design is made to maximize its compactness with aerodynamics and handling that’s perfect for tight city streets. Choose from a variety of eye-popping colors to fit your lifestyle. Its 14” alloy wheels also add an air of elegance.

Comment:
Wigo can modestly manage to climb Tagaytay or Baguio with 5 normal size people on board, plus some light baggage? Also, it can manage a long drive from Manila to Ilocos (Pagudpud)

Pros:
Easy to drive, easy to maneuver and easy to park.
Affordable

Cons:
No keyless entry.
Fuel Capacity Full Tank 33 Liters
Tough drive for its manual transmission

  1. Toyota wigo is a nice one to be used as a family car as 5 person can use it. But if we will think about the fuel economy point of view then it is not a good one to prefer. Good article, elaborating all about its specification. Thanks for sharing. Toyota Service Tualatin, OR.

  2. Toyota Wigo has some extra features than other cars. It has electric power steering, Anti lock brake system and dual airbags. It is having one defect that it has less fuel efficiency and no keyless entry. It is some how difficult for manual transmission. I was having many problems in my car toyota wigo. It was consuming more fuel and very difficult for me while driving but its engine is far better than other car. Recently I have modified my Toyota Wigo for car service. Now it is showing good mileage and fuel consumption is quite adjustable.
